It’s the end of January and 2019 seems like a distant memory. We thought we’d look back through some of the most notable rebrands of the year and give some of our thoughts.
01 Sydney Airport
I really like the bold approach here. It looks more like a youthful lifestyle brand and I think thats a good direction for an airport to take. Great work by Frost Design in order to fully appreciate it take a look at the brand in action here.
02. Duolingo
The reason this one stood out to us is that it steps away from the geosans re-bland trend thats seem many companies end up looking the same. Much like the previous Duolingo logo. I like how they have added character to logo making it more unique and fun.
03. Volkswagon
Always a sucker for the minimalist approach. This allows the logo to be more versatile when in use.
04. Android
The original Android robot always looked a little amateur to me, almost like a clipart graphic. The new version has more personality even tho it’s much simpler.
05. Discovery
I like it when a logo is self contained in one unit. It makes it easier to use and more consistent. The bolder typography gives the logo more authority also.
Bonus
This one stood out for me as an example that doesn’t work too well for me. Is it a bird, a plane, an eye? I don’t think it is as self explanatory as the original. The typography is an improvement, allow lacks uniqueness.
