Recently, one of our clients – that we’ve helped with their branding – smashed their Kickstarter campaign and it got us thinking, how does a company achieve the success and funding needed using an online platform? So, with that in mind, here are our top tips for creating a successful Kickstarter campaign:

  • Explain What You’re Doing and Why

When you set up a campaign, you need to remember that you’re asking for pledges from people that may not know you or your project. So, provide all the information they need. Explain what you’re doing, what you’re asking for and why you’re doing it.

  • Be Clear and Concise About the Benefits

Clearly explain how the product or service benefits the customer, as a way to show that your campaign is worth the pledge. There are a lot of campaigns out there to choose from, so you need to make yours stands out as one that deserves success.

  • Include Well Presented Imagery

Though a lot of a Kickstarter campaign’s success will come down to content and marketing, it’s important to include imagery. Use high quality photographs and great graphics, as these help to the campaign to look professional, organised and planned.

  • Set Realistic Targets

Before starting the campaign, clearly plan out your targets. Work out what you’re asking for and when you want to hit each milestone; this will help to keep the campaign organised and pledgers up to date on how far you have left to go.

  • Publicise the Campaign Before it Launches

Instead of just launching the campaign one day without a mention to any potential pledgers, take the time to create a buzz around what you’re doing. Use social media, digital marketing and connections to spread the word.

Online campaigns like those on Kickstarter can offer pledger perks and these are a fantastic tool. Not only do they encourage potential pledgers to make a pledge, but they also encourage a higher pledge amount as they will receive more in return.
